Saturday at Glastonbury Festival 2013

The Rolling Stones

There's a real buzz in the air all day as everybody seems to be gearing up for the Rolling Stones' first appearance at Glastonbury. Every other person seems to have a Rolling Stones t-shirt on or is hiding behind a Mick Jagger face mask. As it turns out, the band doesn't disappoint and play hit after hit during the two hour show, each one getting a rapturous reception.

Sympathy for the Devil is one of the many highpoints. The crowd start woo-wooing as soon as the intro starts and Jagger appears on stage wearing a long black hairy cloak like he's just joined the Night's Watch. The song has devilish backdrop courtesy of the red stage lighting and numerous red flares in the crowd. Towards the end of the song, the phoenix on the top of the Pyramid Stage adds to the atmosphere as it comes to life, belching fire and smoke into the night sky.
