Biggles Wartime Band at Glastonbury Festival 2015

Croissant Neuf Bandstand
Wednesday / 2pm-3pm

Biggles Wartime Band get the early-afternoon party going at the Croissant Neuf Bandstand with an entertaining mix of jugband music and comedy.

They open with the catchy 'Salty Dog' and then launch into 'Jollity Farm' for which the audience happily provide the required animal noises.

Frontman Jock tells a joke about a visit to a solicitor to ask whether he should sue the airline that had damaged his luggage beyond repair. The punchline, "He said I didn't have much of case”, gets laughs and groans in equal measure.

Later, an energetic version of Jungle Book's 'I Wanna Be Like You' gets a good many people up and dancing. Then there's a very funny reworking of 'Then He Kissed Me' by The Crystals, entitled 'Then She Kicked Me'.

The penultimate song is the Tom Jones classic 'Delilah'. By this stage the band have pretty much everybody on board and we all join in with the "La la la-la la la” and "Ha ha ha ha” refrains.

It's all great fun and, if ever a band were made for Glastonbury on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, its Biggles Wartime Band.

Setlist: Salty Dog, Jollity Farm, Cajun Mumbles, San Francisco Bay Blues, Aunty May, I Wanna Be Like You, Then She Kicked Me, Delilah, Old Joe Clark.
